Randy Moss & His Faith
As you can see there have been some very talented players play with the Vikings organization. The game of football is something that has been a big part of all these men’s lives. Many of these NFL players know there is more to life than the game of football though. They know there are things in life that come before football. Randy Moss is one of those believers and during his Hall of Fame induction speech he went on to say the following:
“Faith. Family. And football. That’s what makes Randy Moss. In that order. Nothing else inside the circle.” Moss went on to talk about where he was from and how he was raised by a single mom who knew nothing about sports. He then said, “Not for one second did I not think God was in control of my life.” This goes on to show that Randy valued his faith more than anything. That this was at the top of his list and that he knew God was in control of his life and was paving a way for him. He couldn’t have accomplished the things he had or gone to the places he went without the grace and power of God.
Adrian Peterson’s Principles
Adrian Peterson is another one of the best Minnesota Vikings players who has great faith in Christ. During an interview with CBN, Peterson goes on to talk about his injury when he tore both his ACL and MCL. This is a very painful injury and one that is a hard and long road to recovery. Peterson says that he experienced Christ throughout the rehab process and wouldn’t have been able to get through it without God. Adrian went on to say the following:
“Without Him, doing this recovery, I had no chance – at all. No chance to do this on my own. He kept my mind at ease.” Adrian went on to say that he went to the principle that he had used for so much of his life. Peterson said that the principle that was so easy for him to buy into since he had done this times before was to “Put this in God’s hand, have faith; that simple process, your principles that you have, having faith and believing.”
Adrian is a firm believer in Jesus Christ and goes on to say, “Through all the adversity and the hard times I’ve been through, God has always been present. I’ve always prayed to Him and asked Him to give me the strength to endure and to help others and to better understand the situation, or whatever situation I deal with in my personal life. And He has always showed up.” Peterson knows we serve a God who will always be there, who will never leave you nor forsake you. This goes along with the Bible in Deuteronomy 31:6 where it says:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.”
Hebrew 13:5 says. “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Peterson even goes on to say later in the interview that he has peace of mind because of Jesus giving his only begotten Son for us, which has given us the opportunity to have eternal life. Adrian also goes on to say, “No matter how many flaws we have, our God is so forgiving and understanding. He’ll never leave you or forsake you. So that brings peace to me.” Adrian has an eternal perspective of what is truly important in life and that no matter what hardships or valleys you go through that God is with you. We all can learn from Peterson and look to have that eternal perspective of realizing what is truly important in life and feeling God’s presence throughout all times in our lives.
Cris Carter’s Platform
Cris Carter is another man of faith. In an article with beyond the ultimate, Carter goes on to talk about how he became a Christian in 1988 after his rookie season in the NFL. He gives credit to his teammates Keith Byars and Reggie White for leading him to Christ. Reggie was a bold man of faith and you can read more about Reggie in the best Green Bay Packers players article. Cris went on to say in the article:
“It took me awhile to realize that giving my life to Christ and being fully committed to Him are two different things.” This is a very good point that Carter makes. There is a big difference between those two things and Cris decided to start fully committing his life. Have you given your life to Christ, but have still not fully committed to Him? It is important for us all to stop and take a moment to ask ourselves this same question about our own lives. I challenge you to truly take a deeper look at your life and actions. Are you fully committed?
Carter also goes on to say that he is committed to using the influence and resources he has for God’s glory. During this article Cris also says, “I now have purpose in my life, and it is to use the platform I have been given to glorify the name of God.” Carter knows how important committing your life to Christ is and he now wants to share that with others. We all have our own platforms in life that we have been given from God. I challenge you to look at your own life. What kind of platform has God given you and how can you turn around and use that platform to spread the Word of God to others and share His love with them?
