He was awarded the Heisman Trophy in college and during that speech he talked about his belief in Jesus. Bo stated that he had read on a plaque about how much God loves us. It stated that ‘He spread his arms this wide and He died’. Jackson went on to stated that he believes the words on that plaque, that Jesus died for us because of his great love for us. Bo stated in this Heisman speech, “I believe that from the bottom of my heart and I hope that you all feel the same way.” Jackson knows that although there is great fun and excitement found in sports, that this is not where true joy comes from. Bo used the stage that he had to try and help other people see that as well. There truly is a greater joy and purpose to this game of life.

Dan’s Faith

Another man on the list of the best Kansas City Royals players of all time that was a Christian was Dan Quisenberry. Dan was a great ballplayer as seen above, but he also knew Christ. After his career was over he became sick and was diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Dan was always a competitor and a fighter. One of his friends stated that Dan would battle this cancer, but that he also is a devout Christian who isn’t afraid of losing this fight. This shows that Dan had a relationship with God. He knew where he was going to go when he passed away. There is a greater place in Heaven for Dan. Just as Paul the apostle says in the book of Philippians, “To live is Christ and to die is gain”. Dan was well aware of this and there is nothing more important in life than that relationship with God.
