That is an impressive statistic and shows just how good this man was. The Jaguars know how great Jimmy was at the game of football and in 2016 he was inducted into the “Pride of the Jaguars”. Fred Taylor is one of the best running backs the Jacksonville Jaguars organization has seen and that is why he is on the list of the best Jacksonville Jaguars players of all time. Maurice Jones-Drew

The Jaguars were not only blessed with Fred Taylor as a running back, but another running back that came through the Jaguars organization was a man by the name of Maurice Jones-Drew. Mark Brunell

The quarterback of the football team is often the leader and the man in charge of the offense. Luckily for the Jaguars, they had a great quarterback in a man by the name of Mark Brunell. Brunell was phenomenal under center for the Jaguars and played with the team from 1995 to 2003. During this span of time he was named to the Pro Bowl three times which came in 1996, 1997, and 1999. Being named to the Pro Bowl is an honor for any player and shows just how talented you are. During the 1996 season, Mark hit some other level as quarterback. This man led every single quarterback in the NFL in passing yards that season. Brunell sure could throw it down field. The city of Jacksonville and the fans loved seeing him make big passes that turned into big plays. Mark Brunell has been inducted into the team’s ring of honor called the “Pride of the Jaguars”. His Jacksonville Jaguars jersey will always be a classic one for the franchise and fans will remember him for a long time. Brunell will be remembered for a long time as one of the best Jacksonville Jaguars players.

Greater Purpose

These players that we have mentioned as the best Jacksonville Jaguars players surely put a lot of time and effort into the game of football. It has consumed a lot of their lives and is very important to many of them. There are a few athletes mentioned above that have a greater purpose in their lives than just football, the NFL, and being remembered as one of the greatest to ever play for the Jacksonville franchise. One of those men is Tony Boselli. In an article written by Buddy Shacklette back from 2007, Boselli goes on to talk about his faith, relationship with God, and how he is ever grateful for the hope he has in Jesus Christ. In this article Tony goes on to talk about the responsibility and burden he feels to impact young high school kids and share the gospel. Tony believes a lot of kids have given up hope and have bought into what the world is naming them. Tony goes on to say in the article,

“God has named them a generation of destiny and purpose. There’s something out there for them just as there was for me. He put a real burden on me – a real love for this generation of kids, especially high school kids.”

Tony Sharing The Word

It seems as if Tony has a special place in his heart for these young kids because he was in their same position. He knows what it was like to not have a relationship with God and to not know Him. Boselli wants to show others about Christ and share what he has found. Tony goes on to say,

“I’ve seen so many kids miss the truth, and I missed it for so long. It’s only by the grace of God that I’m here and that I know Him.”

This quote from Tony speaks wonders and shows just how thankful Tony is for the grace of God. He wants to help others that were lost like himself and wants to spread the Word of God to them.

Homelessness Analogy

I heard an analogy once that goes along with this. The analogy is imagining that everyone in the world was homeless and without food. We all were going along looking for shelter and food and you had finally found a house. Not only did you find a house, but the house had unlimited room. This same house had unlimited bread and food. No matter how many people came to this house there was enough room for everyone and there was always an abundance of food for everyone. If you had found this, would you not go out and tell your family, friends, people on the street and many others about this house? Sure, you would. That is the essence of Christianity and what Tony is trying to do. He was once lost, but now he is found. He wants to share this with many others and help the lost find their way in Christ.

Connecting With Scripture

The goal that Tony has goes along with scripture as well. In the Bible it talks about spreading the Word of God with others in multiple different places.

In Matthew 10:7-8 it says, “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” We have freely received Gods grace and his word, so let’s share that with others freely.

In Mark 16:15 scripture states “He said to them, “Go to all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.””

Going along with these verses, one of the most popular ones is from Matthew 28:19-20. In this verse it says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Tony is striving to share the Gospel, and this is something we all can learn from and strive to do. Not only is he one of the best Jacksonville Jaguars players, but he is also a warrior for Christ.

Mark’s Identity

Another player mentioned above who has come to know Christ is Mark Brunell. Mark is a born again Christian and, in an article, posted by the Washington Times, Brunell talks about how he remembers one of his old teammates preaching the Gospel in the locker room like Billy Graham. His teammate was Reggie White. Reggie was an outspoken bold man of God. You can read about his faith in the article on the best Green Bay Packers players. Brunell came to know Christ and goes on to say in the article,

“I’m not a football player who happens to be a Christian. I’m a Christian who happens to be a football player. I could be a doctor, a teacher, but this is what God has called me to do.”

What Scripture Says

Mark couldn’t have said it any better. As Christians our identity is not in what we do, but who we are inside and where our hearts are. Brunell seems to have his identity and priorities set straight. Some verses in scripture that go along with finding your identity in Christ is Colossians 3:1-4 where it states,

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

In 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

And another verse is Genesis 1:27 where it states, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

As we see throughout scripture we were not only made in the image of God, but we ourselves have died and have been crucified with Christ. In Colossians it uses the words hidden with Christ. Our identity comes from Christ and Him living inside of us. Mark knows this and knows that Christ is where his true identity is.

Where Is Your Identity?

There have been many great players come through the Jacksonville Jaguars organization, but only a few are recognized as the best Jacksonville Jaguars players of all time. They all value the game of football, but some of them have a different perspective on the importance of the game and know what is truly important in life. Mark and Tony both have found their identity in Christ and know what is truly valuable in life. So, I challenge you to take a look at your own life and ask yourself the question…what are you putting your identity in?
